LSD,
an illegal synthetic drug, usually comes dissolved into a piece of blotter
paper or in pills, often in combination with other drugs. Hallucinogenic
effects occur within first half hour and last as long as 12 hours, depending
on dose. Can produce euphoria and visual and sensory distortions as well
as numbness, nausea, and trembling. Higher doses can bring on a frightening
"bad trip" involving extreme anxiety and paranoia. Users
sometimes have flashbacks weeks or years after taking LSD.
